Anna Maria Niemiec wurde in Polen geboren, übersiedelte im Alter von 3 Jahren nach Österreich und begann dort ihre musikalische Ausbildung. Ihre besondere Leidenschaft gilt der zeitgenössischen Musik, was bereits zur Arbeit mit namhaften Komponisten wie Wolfgang Rihm, Jörg Widmann, Johannes Maria Staud oder Bernhard Gander, sowie zu zahlreichen Uraufführungen führte. 2018 debütierte Anna Maria Niemiec im Rahmen von Wien Modern als Solistin im Großen Saal des Wiener Konzerthauses. 

Zahlreiche solistische sowie kammermusikalische Konzerte führten in bekannte Säle wie den Gläsernen Saal des Wiener Musikvereins, den Großen Saal des Wiener Konzerthauses, die Philharmonie Paris, die Philharmonie Kiev, die Philharmonie Opole, das Radiokulturhaus Wien, das Arnold Schönberg Center, das Schloss Esterhazy Eisenstadt, sowie nach Deutschland, Italien, Frankreich, Dänemark, Georgien, Polen, Ungarn, Slowakei, die Türkei, die Ukraine und die Schweiz.

Anna Maria Niemiec ist Preisträgerin zahlreicher Wettbewerbe (zB. ‘Fidelio Spezial’, ‘Duc de Richelieu’, ‘Prima la musica’, ‘Fidelio Kreation’), Art Scholar des Europäischen Forum Alpbach, Mitglied der “Yehudi Menuhin Live Music Now Foundation”, Stipendiatin des ‘Bank Austria Kunstpreises’ und des ‘New Austrian Sound of Music’.

Ergänzend zu ihrer solistischen Tätigkeit befasst sie sich vermehrt mit Kammermusik, was regelmäßig zu Zusammenarbeit mit Ensembles wie Ensemble Intercontemporain, Quasars Ensemble ua. führt. 

Seit 2015 ist sie, gemeinsam mit Lorina Vallaster an den Blockflöten, als Mitglied von ‘Baubo Collective’ aktiv. Einerseits widmet sich das Duo verstärkt dem eigenen Entwickeln und Entstehen von Stücken in enger Zusammenarbeit mit zeitgenössischen TänzerInnen, andererseits entsteht in Kooperation mit KomponistInnen eine Vielzahl von neuen Stücken für die ungewöhnliche Besetzung.

Darüber hinaus hat Anna Maria vier Jahre lang als Cellistin des Ensembles ‘Trio Immersio’ gewirkt und 2016 die CD ‘3’ mit Werken von J.Haydn, J. Brahms, F. Schubert und B. Gander aufgenommen.

Ihre musikalische Ausbildung begann sie im Alter von sechs Jahren in der ZMS Neusiedl am See bei Joyce Flynt-Visne. Ab dem 10. Lebensjahr besuchte sie den Vorbereitungslehrgang des Joseph Haydn Konservatoriums Eisenstadt bei Prof. Stefan Kropfitsch, vier Jahre später wechselte sie an die Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien. Einen großen Einfluss auf ihre cellistische Entwicklung hatte ein Jahr intensiver Zusammenarbeit mit Prof. Tomasz Strahl in Warschau.
Seit 2012 war sie Studentin der Musik und Kunst Privatuniversität der Stadt Wien (MUK) in der Klasse von Prof. Lilia Schulz-Bayrova, wo sie 2017 ihr Bachelorstudium und 2020 ihr Masterstudium mit Auszeichnung abschloss.

Seit Jahren nimmt sie regelmäßig an renommierten Meisterkursen in Österreich und im Ausland teil, wo sie unter anderem mit den Professoren Philippe Muller, Menahem Pressler, Jeroen Reuling, Jontscho Bayrov, Sergei Slovachevsky, Conradin Brotbek und Ventsislav Nikolov zusammenarbeitete.
Wichtige künstlerische Anregungen erhielt sie auch von Éric-Maria Couturier, Pavel Vernikov, Gerhard Schulz und Alexander Zemtsov.

Anna Maria Niemiec was born in Poland and moved to Austria at the age of three. She has a particular passion for contemporary music, which has led to collaborations with reputable composers such as Wolfgang Rihm, Johannes Maria Staud, Bernhard Gander or Jörg Widmann, as well as taking part in numerous premieres of their works. Anna Maria made her debut as a soloist in the Great Hall of the Vienna Konzerthaus in 2018, performing at the prestigious festival “Wien Modern”. She has given many performances both as a soloist and as a chamber musician in some of Europe’s most notable concert halls, including the “Gläserner Saal, Musikverein”, the “Grosser Saal, Konzerthaus”, the “Philharmonie Paris”, the “Kiev Philharmonie”, the “Philharmonie Opole”, the “Radiokulturhaus” in Vienna, the “Schloss Esterhazy” in Eisenstadt and the “Arnold Schönberg Center” in Vienna, with other musical endeavours also having taken her to Germany, Italy, France, Denmark, Georgia, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Turkey, the Ukraine and Switzerland.

Anna Maria Niemiec is a prizewinner of a range of significant international competitions, such as “Fidelio Spezial”, “Prima La Musica”, “Duc de Richelieu” and “Fidelio Kreation”. She is an Art Scholar of the European Forum Alpbach, a scholarship holder of Bank Austria and of the “New Austrian sound of music” and also enjoys being a member of the Yehudi Menuhin foundation “Live Music Now”. She complements her extensive work as a soloist by focussing increasingly on chamber music, working with ensembles such as Ensemble Intercontemporain and Quasars ensemble, amongst others.

Since 2015 she has been working together with recorder player Lorina Vallaster as part of “Baubo Collective”. This duo not only devotes itself to the development of new works in connection with contemporary dancers but also collaborates with contemporary composers to create new works for this somewhat unusual instrumental combination. Furthermore, Anna Maria was a cellist of the Vienna based “Trio Immersio” for four years and in 2016 she recorded a CD titled “3” with the ensemble, featuring works by J. Haydn, J. Brahms, F. Schubert and B. Gander. She began her studies at the age of six in the ZMS Neusiedl-am-See with Joyce Flynt-Visne.

At ten years of age she attended a preparatory course in the Joseph Haydn conservatoire in Eisenstadt under Stefan Kropfitsch and four years later she moved to the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. Intensive studies with Tomasz Strahl in Warsaw were of particular importance in her development as a cellist. In 2012 she was accepted at the Vienna conservatory into the class of Lilia Schulz-Bayrova, graduating with a bachelor’s degree five years later and in 2020 she completed her master’s, graduating with distinction. She frequently attends masterclasses in Austria and further afield, in which she has worked with great professors of the likes of Menahem Pressler, Philippe Muller, Jeroen Reuling, Jontscho Bayrov, Sergei Slovachevsky, Constantin Brotbek, Ventsislav Nikolov. Lessons with stars such as Pavel Vernikov, Éric-Maria Couturier, Alexander Zemtsov and Gerhard Schulz have also been a source of much inspiration for her.
