Bio

Andrej Štepita ist Tänzer, Performer, Lehrer und  Choreograph im Bereich  zeitgenössischer Tanz und physisches Theater. Andrej hat ein Diplom in modernem Tanz und Tanzpädagogik der Universität für darstellende Künste in Bratislava. Er führte seine Ausbildung an der renommierten Salzburg Academy of Dance (SEAD) fort, wo er 2020 erfolgreich sein Studium abschloss.

Er ist Mitglied des “MimoOs”-Kollektivs in Bratislava. Zur Zeit arbeitet er mit einem internationalem Tanzstudio zusammen, welches in Prag ansässig ist – “Farm in the cave”. In verschiedensten Produktionen war er als Co-Choreograf und Performer tätig (Moving Mountains, Another song in Silence, unLEAN, Sensory understanding, Night Ilussion, …) welche in der Slowakei und anderen europäischen Ländern präsentiert wurden. Innerhalb des zeitgenössischen Tanzes spezialisiert er sich auf Partner-Arbeiten und ortsspezifische Performances, welche auch die Themen seiner Bacherlor- und Master-Arbeit waren. Er ist Schöpfer mehrerer Produktionen und Installationen an spezifischen Orten, wie “passing / station” – eine Serie von Tanz-Happenings an Bahnhöfen. Er nahm am Europäischen Forum Alpbach 2019 teil, wo er im Seminar “it does matter where” des Wiener Choreografen Willi Dorner assistierte. Er schloss mehrere Tanz-Workshops ab, wie China-CEEC in den chinesischen Provinzen Guizhu und Guiang. In der Vergangenheit trat er auch in Musicals auf (Blood Brothers, Ialo, Francis of Assisi, Judge’s Worries).

Er ist Gründer und Direktor des Tanzfestivals Tanečno in seiner Heimatstadt Námestovo in der Slowakei.

Andrej Štepita is a dancer, performer, teacher and choreographer mainly in the field of contemporary dance and physical theater. Andrej obtained his master’s degree in dance interpretation and didactics of modern dance at the Department of Dance at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. He continued his studies at the prestigious SEAD Academy – Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance, where he successfully completed his studies under the guidance of world-renowned dancers. He is a member of the “MimoOs” collective, focused on the creation and presentation of contemporary art. He is currently collaborating with an international theater studio based in Prague – “Farm in the cave”. He works as a performer or co-creator in several works, (Moving Mountains, Another song in silence, unLEAN, Sensory understanding, Night Ilusion …) which were successfully presented in Slovakia and abroad. Within the art of dance, he specializes in partner work and “site-specific” performances, which were the topics of his bachelor’s and master’s theses. He is the creator of many performances and installations in a specific space, as “passing / station” – a series of dance happenings in train stations. He participated in the European forum Alpbach 2019, where he assisted in the seminar “It does matter where”, led by Viennese choreographer Willi Dorner. He is a graduate of various dance workshops: China-CEEC in the Chinese provinces of Guizhu and Guiang. In the past he acted in musicals (Blood Brothers, Iago, Francis of Assisi, Judge’s Worries)
He is a founder and director of a dance festival called Tanečno happening in his home region in Námestovo, Slovakia.
